So, I've heard this movie is pretty good.
All I wanted to know is if it's worth watching the prequel, Battle Royale beforehand, as I haven't yet.

Yeah, they're really similar but BR is not a prequel. I hate all those stupid comparisons going around about how "Battle Royale is better than The Hunger Games". Psh give me a break. Just like Twilight being compared to The Hunger Games, they shouldn't even be in the same sentence together. And yes, you should read the books first. It gives you a better understanding when watching the movie.

"Battle Royale" kind of shares the same plot as "The Hunger Games" but it's absolutely soulless. It's a brilliant Asian movie but you don't get to attach to any of the characters. You just watch the movie, have fun and feel like a member of the Capitol, in some way.
