Fan Ages?

Postby Cathy904 » Sat May 05, 2012 5:25 am

Male vs. Female is a fun fan talley.

I was curious as to the age spread.

Hope you don't mind participating.

It would let me know how eccentric I am.

If somebody else has already done this, apologies.
They're already at work on "Catching Fire". WoooooooHOOOOOOOOOOO!

29 year old woman here, with a 2 year old. By the time the last movie comes out she should be old enough to "hopefully" enjoy the series with her mamma. :) My husband is 30 and while he won't read the books, he did enjoy the movie.

Yea! Feedback.

Thank you, Marie Sunderland. I love comments even more.

I'm hoping lurkers will also weigh in.

It'd be nice to know I'm not the oldest Hunger Games fan on the planet. :D

And, I'm really interested how "the teenage demographic" dominates, if it does. Of course, I've heard all the squeeing teenagers like on the Westlake Youtube clip. I just suspect there's a lot of 'older' fans than the studio realizes. By older, I mean not in high school.

I'm not out to label anybody. I'm just really interested in the age span of fans who love the books.

It also encouraged me when Woody Harrelson said he started reading the books and was riveted.

He's certainly no teenager, which made me feel better. :D

I'm 20 years young and male. These books are some of the best I have ever read since I mostly read non fictional war novels and history books

30 and I love these books. I know they were categorised as young adult but the appeal of the books is much broader than that. I have seen pretty much every age group enjoy THG.

I'm 25 and these books resonate with me in a big way- I'm in love and I'm obsessed. This is definitely not a series for young adults only. If anything the themes are quite serious and the events in the books quite dark. I'm intrigued to see how the younguns' interpret these themes.

These books stirred the same feelings and thoughts as another series did when I was 13 called "Tomorrow When the War Began". It's a fantastic series by author James Marsden. It too is about kids fighting in a war and also has the not-so-happily-ever-after ending.

I'm 25 years old female... Wow I tought I am one of the oldest fan because basically I only hear about teenagers being obsessed with these books. It's so nice I am not the only one. :)

Oh I saw that movie, I have never heard about it before I watched it and until now I didn't even know there are books. It was quite interesting I will check out the books!

Lol yes it's a book series! There are 7 books- that probably sounds like a lot but they aren't too hard to read.
James Marsden is Australian and he's brilliant. I didn't realise the film made it over to the US, awesome!
