Maybe he didn't know about the flowers but he knew they were allies. He overheard Clove talking to Katniss when she was about to kill her. Also that's why he knew the careers killed Rue.

The whole thing with the mutts was actually supposed to happen during the day so Katniss could see their eyes and collars and realise the dead tributes' DNA was in there, somewhere (and this was actually ignored). The entire mutt-thing was all wrong, in my opinion.

I'm sure getting a PG-13 rating and not a R rating had to something to do with this imo.

Well, that's a pity, but the movie is already rather violent as it is. Sending in wolves with collars and the tributes' eyes instead of huge dogs wouldn't have changed things too much. Maybe they just tried to shorten it a bit and it would have been pretty difficult to explain the whole DNA thing to people who haven't read the book.

This bothered me too, in the book - I assumed that sponsors had dropped a message down to him with a gift at some point.

Not much disappointed me in the movie, but the mutts did. I was really looking forward to see how scary they are, and Glimmer's eyes. Needless to say, when they looked like my neighbor's dog...I was like "that's not scary..."

Also Peeta was borderline dying in the book, but he didn't seem AS bad in the movie. And Katniss jabbed a needle in him in the books, not ointment.

Ok I better stop there before I start dissecting everything and hating the movie. :P

They had to change and shorten certain things at the end of the movie for time sake, it was already a good length movie to begin with, I think the thing that bothered me the most was that Peeta didn't lose his leg, to me that was a major point at the ending of the book.

The movie left out the prep teams. I thought the treatment of Katniss' prep team - I don't want to put a spoiler in - was really important in the third book and it would have been nice to have some background in the first movie to explain them and how Katniss felt toward them.

And, I can't remember the plant book or Prim's goat being in the movie, but I could be wrong about those.

It isn't really a difference, but when Katniss and Peeta are running to the Cornucopia to get away from the mutts, Peeta was faster, even with his leg.
