Catching Fire, the best of the three books. Agree?

Yes, Catching Fire was my favorite.

But, it stands on the other two books.

There's already an introduction, so Catching Fire can start right in on the Victory Tour.

Catching Fire ends on a huge climax, not unlike The Empire Strikes Back, where a hero is captured by evil and the forces are regrouping to attack again.

That Arena. Wow. Cooler than the first one. I have no idea how they'll do it for the movie, I've heard filming in water is torture.

Peeta and Katniss were so physically close the entire book. Holding hands, stroking faces, constantly reassuring each other with touch.

My favorite book is Catching Fire, too, because of Finnick and Johanna.

I simply cannot stop reading the first book over and over. I've read the first one about 5 or 6 times while I've read the others once each.

I definitely find CF better than THG, but between CF and MJ I'm still undecided. In CF many fascinating new characters were born who we actually learn something about. In THG, apart from the central characters, only Rue was given a fair mention. In CF we also see the relationship between Katniss, Gale and Peeta blossom, the latter not just for show. And the story itself: The rebellion brewing and climaxing, insight into the cruelty of the Capitol, brave characters risking death for a cause, the tragic romance of Katniss and Peeta where both accepted their own death for the survival of the other, all lead to an ending that (quite literally) blew THG out of the park. There were also many moments of humor that I enjoyed very much (the chess scene between Haymitch and Peeta, drunken conversation between K and H, the sugar conversation between K and Finnick followed by K pretending to be seductive with P, etc)

With MJ, it's a very different kind of story. Very much darker, serious and thought provoking. It had a far greater emotional impact on me than the other 2 books. It requires many times of re reading to fully appreciate the plot and the messages in it, and each time I re read it, and thought about it more, the more enjoyable I found, hence my conflict between these 2 books.

I also agree that Catching Fire is the best book of the trilogy because of the plot twists and the growth in character depth. Spoiler Alert: In Catching Fire President Snow returns and shows himself to be the scary villain he is. He is no longer hiding. His character grows darker and more sinister which makes for a far more interesting story. Katniss and Peeta return to the games, where we meet other characters who seem flat (Finnick, Joanna) because they just look like people who want to survive but are actually dynamic and central to the story in that they band together with Katniss to defeat the games. Katniss herself also becomes more interesting because she is caught in the midst of a love triangle with Peeta and Gale and because that fierce quality that we all admired in The Hunger Games is back and fierier than ever. Peeta goes from being this weakling that Katniss outshined to this incredibly fierce guy who is willing to put his life on the line for Katniss. The games themselves become more difficult, if that is even possible, because it is the 75th games (The Quarter Qwell) and so instead of being exempt from the games like they were supposed to be, only victors can be placed into the games. Katniss is the only female victor of District 12 and Peeta is one out of two (Haymitch is a victor also but Peeta takes his place to be with Katniss once more). Overall the book was more entertaining and less predictable than the first and not rushed and over-packed with nonsensical action like the last (Mockingjay) which ended up being confusing, long, boring and hard to read.

Catching Fire has always been my favorite from the series.

There is so many unexpected events and the detail in some parts is amazing. Also, it's great to have such a vivid picture of the other districts and victors, it really shows you what the whole of Panem is like.

If Lionsgate ruin the film, they will be receiving a very angry letter.

Please don't kill my dreams.

I disagree. Here's why:

I felt that Suzanne Collins did more telling rather than showing. As much as I love Catnip,(;D)
the story would have definitely benefited more from having different POVs in the same vein as Game Of Thrones. There was so much going on around Panem,but Katniss wasn't around to see most of it. Not to mention, you just can't re-create the magic of the first book.

Aside from that, the cheesy romance got to me. I'm a sucker for those types of things. Peeta and Katniss in the area was just...
