And everyone takes a part of war with them physically and mentally and I think SC captured that perfectly with Katniss' and Peetas' PTSD.

Totally agreed - what is PTSD? Wouldn't you love to sit down and talk to her now? Find out what went through her mind as she was writing it. I bet she is a very intersting person to have a converstation with. I did for get about an older guy I know who is reading the books - we have talked about them but he was in one of my history classes - don't see him that much any more. So there are a few guys like us out there that branch out beyond sterotypes.

PTSD = Post traumatic stress disorder.

I would love the chance to have a chat with Suzanne Collins. Through the film (she was heavily involved in the script) I think we see some of the other viewpoints and stories that could be told and I would love to chat with her about that in particular. It would be great to see if she thought of back stories for the other characters.

Yes it would be awesome to have a one on one chat with SC, and I'm glad she was involved in the movie and will be in the future ones and it makes me mad that people complain about some of the changes or things that were left it, if SC was fine with it then I am as well.

Suggestion to SC - other books - background of other people - before, after. No you don't have to be that intense anymore - must have been exhausting to write. But we all would like to know more - just hang around them. I wouldn't mind a book just spending a pointless few years hanging out. Maybe that's just me.

I agree - the movie was great. You want more left in read the book I tell people. I'm looking forward to the next 3 movies. I'm just glad nothing major changed - that would bug me. She did a great job. The only thing for me that stood out was I like the books being from Katniss's point of view - like she was writing her story to Panem - like this is my side of things. I like that she didn't mention her kids by name - said to me - I'm telling you my story but not their names so leave me alone - I'm a private person. That you need the book for - can't get that in the movie. They have to go together.

This was the first thing which made me wonder when I saw the movie. But I think in a movie a 3rd person view is better and it gave us, the public, different views on the whole story, which I really appreciated! :)
I really haven't thought about the names in the books though, although this is of course an important aspect. The connections to flowers and plants are obvious though. And the connections to serenata birds is incredibly beautiful, and also obvious. But this is what I also like about the novels. everything was picked really thoughtfully.

To go along wit that some of the names come from ancient Rome, like Plutarch for example.

Really thoughtfully - she is very much in control of every word. I was impressed. That is why I know that ever statement and every word choice has a meaning - and probably many multiple meanings and plays on words. Even writing at a lower level fits - after all it was written by a girl who only needed basic reading. SC is a master at her craft.

Yes, many, many names are either roman or greek in their use. I just wish I was confident on the name Mellark - i heard there is a book out on this kind of thing for THG so I'm going to buy it and get back to everyone about what I find.

Maybe Mellark comes from mellow, because that is Peetas character like. I mean, mellow - Mellark...
But MAYBE Mellark is only a name, a simple name! :)
