Finnick vs. Peeta

If Finnick and Peeta were put in an arena and only one of them could win, who do you think would win?

I can't decide who would win. I want to hear your thoughts first. What do you think?

I think it would have to be Finnick. He has proven in his first Games that he can be rather ruthless. Peeta is just too much of a nice guy.

True but Peeta developed some impressive combat skills, don't you think?

Good point. Also, Finnick definitely had a soft side too and could be affected by stress and pressure in a bad way. So the two of them against each other probably be an interesting scenario. I would still say Finnick though, because he seems like overall he is a bit harder of a person. I hate to think of it too much, though because they are my two favorite characters.

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't want to see Peeta lose a fight to Finnick, although it would probably end that way. If Peeta had been in a state of a "hijacked" mind, do you think he would have won against Finnick? Because in the third book, didn't Peeta become more aggresive and he killed Mitchell?

I think that if Finnick and Peeta were put in an arena together Finnick would win. The only reason Peeta ever won was because he had good allies, that knew how to be aggressive, he had the Careers, Katnis, and all of the group in Catching Fire. If you remember in Catching Fire as Finnick and Katnis were talking Finnick said Peeta is a better person than them all, but although he had a way with words, without allies he would have lost easily.(Sorry those arnt the exact words, but to sum it up) So I think that for sure Finnick would have won.

Yes I agree. And I think that Peeta is like Katniss in the way that he only kills when in defending himself or someone he loves. I think Finnick is more likely to win. Especially since we see that in the first book, Peeta was fatally injured by Cato. That right there shows that Peeta probably wouldn't be able to survive in a fight against Finnick.

I would give it to Finnick 8 out of 10 times. While Peeta has talents and is obviously capable of killing (apparently offed the career victor Brutus in the quell arena in Catching Fire, though we don't know how exactly), Finnick seems to have the more well rounded abilities, as well as being deadly proficient with a trident.
