Well one the obvious things was the fact that Peeta lost his leg in the book, but didn't in the movie. It didn't really bother me though. ;)
And Madge was the one to give Katniss the mockingjay pin not Prim. Just my opinion, but I think they changed this just so that they didn't have to dredge in another character who really isn't a major one in the books (*cough, cough* that's only my opinion though.) ;)
The name's Hayden or Dennie if you prefer it.

Since they didn't have Madge in this movie it makes me curious now how they are going to do the scene in Catching Fire where Katniss is in the mayors house and she secretly watches his "special" TV about the rebellion.

I doubt it would be an issue. She could still be at his house for any number of reasons and accidentally see that. :)

True and wouldn't they have to include it anyways since it is part of their victory tour to have dinner their?

They didn't have the red head Avox girl eather...
Of course they had to exclude a lot of things it's only a 2 hour movie. But I think they did a good job I don't think Madge or the Avox ot Peeta's legloss or when Katniss knocked Peeta out whith the medicine was that important for the story. I liked the movie a lot I hope the same crew gonna make the following films too.

There were a few other differences, that didn't really affect the story, but did stand out for anyone who has read the book. Haymitch's tumble, and Effie's losing her wig at the reaping, the outfits worn in the arena being different, the absence of Avoxes, including Dellie, the Tracker-Jacker hallucinations being different, Katniss' backpack being the wrong color, the absence of the night-vision glasses, Katniss not having a sleeping bag, Haymitch's "white liquor" being replaced by something brown (Scotch?), the failure of the lamb stew from the sponsors, and the sleeping draught for Peeta, all come to mind. Against this, there were a number of extra scenes in the movie that didn't appear in the book - the children "playing" at hunger games in the Capitol (as seen by Haymitch), Foxface and Katniss accidental encounter in the arena, the Rebellion in Rue's district, and the creation of the Muttations (the last two couldn't have been in the book, since Katniss didn't know about them)... and of course, Effie's wonderful line about the mahogany!

The movie ended on a much happier note. Katniss and Peeta sort of break up in the book. They didn't show the bit with Peeta's leg, but that's fine if it doesn't appear in the later movies. Otherwise, people who haven't read the books will be wondering where he lost his leg.

I saw the movie today and I thought it was great. What bothered me, though, was the fact that the mutts were supposed to be wolves. These ones looked like bulldogs to me. The whole thing with the mutts was actually supposed to happen during the day so Katniss could see their eyes and collars and realise the dead tributes' DNA was in there, somewhere (and this was actually ignored). The entire mutt-thing was all wrong, in my opinion.
