I feel the exact same way. Prim's death really shook me up. After everything Katniss went through, for Prim to die in front of her eyes, that was hard to take. As was Finnick's death. He was one of the most likable characters in the series.

Possible spoiler that follows:

I found a song - gf likes it - I'm not much into Rihanna but I have to say it fits. I didn't know where to put it but the ending did make me sad and this song did make me happy. What does anyone think?

Rihanna's “We Found Love”

It's like you're screaming, and no one can hear (sounds like Kat all closed up in side herself since her dad's death, maybe longer)
You almost feel ashamed
That someone could be that important (sounds like her again - ashamed like being in love with Peeta is a weakness)
That without them, you feel like nothing (def. Kat - see the ending of Mockingjay)
No one will ever understand how much it hurts (speaks for itself)
You feel hopeless; like nothing can save you (did she ever need saving!!! But I guess they saved each other)
And when it's over, and it's gone
You almost wish that you could have all that bad stuff back
So that you could have the good (again - what she must have felt alone in that house at the end)

Yellow diamonds in the light (Dandilions)
Now we’re standing side by side (
As your shadow crosses mine
What it takes to come alive (she comes alive when he comes back)

It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
But I’ve gotta let it go (she has to let go of the horrors of war)

We found love in a hopeless place (she is in love)
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

Shine a light through an open door
Love a life I will divide (these two lines I'm not sure what they mean let alone to the story - any ideas)
Turn away 'cause I need you more (again - maybe weakness - needing someone that much)
Feel the heartbeat in my mind (she knows it in her mind they love each other)

It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny (she does a lot of that)
But I’ve gotta let it go (but she's got to stop)

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

Yellow diamonds in the light
Now we’re standing side by side
As your shadow crosses mine

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place
We found love in a hopeless place

I think the saddest part was definitely when rue died. Everything that happened right there was just crazy

Finnick's Death. :(
I was greatly affected by that. Though I didn't cry but I was thinking about Annie when I was reading that part.

Probably all the parts where katniss is sad because of someone or something. So prim is the saddest part for me, even in the end when she got kids.

That is totally easy the ending. So totally crappy that it kind of ruined the whole trilogy for me for a while. Then i decided not to hate the author as she probably was trying to make a point about the world being a cruel place, etc. So i still love the series, just not happy with how it finished.

hey this is Mahogany299, and I'm a newbie! This is y first post and I thought it was a good place to start. Saddest part in the Hunger Games? Rue dying, definitely, but everybody says that.

For me as a reader, finding out that Annie and Finnick had a baby right after Finnick died. :(

The reaping. When I watched the film I nearly suffocated because I had a crying fit..

Hard to find 1 sad part of this series - so many of them - and everyone here is spot on. Should also say - many wonderfully happy moments like that the end when Katniss says she loves Peeta "real." Lots to cry and both happy and sad tears. But them I'm pretty emotional.
