I honestly find both books are worlds apart. I don't see how they can be compared at all. I'm not defending Twilight, I can't stand that series myself, I just find it hard to compare both as though they're from the same universe. That being said, it could also be my ego talking because it refuses to believe anything can be related to Twilight. Still, I'll play along haha!

1. Hunger Games is MUCH better written. I tried reading Twilight to see what the fuss was about and I couldn't believe have badly written Twilight was. I actually got to reading Hunger Games for the same reason: wanting to see what the fuss was about. At first I didn't even want to read them because I was under the impression it was a blatant copy of Battle Royale. Now I'm glad I looked it up because now I can say that while some themes are similar, it isn't the same at all. Besides, if I hadn't fallen in love with HG, I wouldn't be here. :P

2. Let's assume Peeta is a stalker like some people claim he is (he isn't, but let's play along). "I watched you walk from school everyday" is honestly not the end of the world. It's not like he broke into Katniss' house and watched her sleep, or you know, tried to keep her from seeing Gale... as Edward did with Bella? Nope, not creepy at ALL.

3. The intrigue is so much better. There's an actual story in Hunger Games and there are actual, important messages throughout the trilogy. Please name me the important, valuable messages of Twilight?

4. The characters feel real. There's a reason why Katniss feels the way she does: she's broken and hurt for many reasons that make SENSE. In Twilight, the characters get angsty for ridiculous and selfish reasons. And you easily feel emotionally attached to the characters in Hunger Games.

5. Uh... I don't have another reason. So I'll just go all fangirl on Josh and Peeta for the sake of it. LOL ;)

so here's what i think:
1. The hunger games address several issues that are in fact realities in our society: (starvation, poverty, corrupt authorities, opressive governments, the use of massive communication media to control people, etc)
2.The hunger games It so much interesting to read and in fact has content and delivers a message other than being a defenseless and weak individual who has to be constantly saved from evil. Katniss is the perfect example of how one person can make a difference. How you can take action instead of just standing there helpless hoping some beautiful boy will come and save you. Kat shows that in fact as she says in the epilogue, no matter how bad our losses are, life goes on.
3. The characters of the SC universe change and develope over the three books. They learn things and suffer and lose people and things they love. They make sacrifices for the ones they love. They don't just get out of things because they're rich or pretty. And even in the end after all the devastation and all of the mental scars they may have they learn to live again, even trough the suffering, like pretty much all of us in real life do.
4. In twilight bella just falls madly in love with Edward out of nowhere and just because. At first sight. of a guy she knows nothing of. She forgets who she is and what she wants and the people she loves just because one guy she's known for like a month. Her father and her mother and her friends. Who cares, right?? as long as she's got the hottest vampire that other stuff doesn't matter. She's a 17 year old girl in love with a vampire that she's known for a brief amount of time and suddenly she can't wait to spend the rest of her life with him, even eternity... that doesn't make any sense.
On the other hand Katniss does everything out of love for her family, for prim. Because she loves her sister more than she loves her own life. She's willing to die for the sake of those who she loves. She knows who she is and what she has to do to help her family. She takes good care of her family by herself since she was 11. She needs no guy pining after her or saving her every time something ugly comes along.
5. At the end of the series, when katniss finally accepts that she belongs with Peeta, is not like she was in love with him since the first time she saw him. They went trough a great deal of stuff together, they got to know each other, grew together, help each other, comfort each other. Peeta is a far more likeable character than Edward. He's a sweet, kind, nice guy, he is weak sometimes, which I think is more realistic. The characters have flaws and shortcomings, they're not perfect. Like everyone else.
What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.

Oh I don't like hatin' on my Twilight, but okay, here goes,

1. It's a futuristic film, but not a fantasy film.

2. It teaches strong lessons about the morals of government and politics.

3. It has a brave and bright young group of people who try to do the right thing. Ouch, that's Twilight, too. um, um, It has a cool villain in President Snow!

4. It's a nice couple of love stories. Sorry, can't say nicer than Twilight, but, one of the guys gets the girl and one of them doesn't. That usually makes for some drama.

5. Yeah. It might have been impossible without Jennifer Lawrence, no offense to the guys.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 5 things why HUNGER GAMES is better than twilight. >:)

but i'll only state 5

1. the storyline. the book just keeps getting better and better after every scene. twilight has monotone.
2. you don't know what to expect next in the hunger games. twilight is expectable and predictable.
3. the characters in the hunger games and more real and very admirable. as of in the twilight its nonsense really having vampires and werewolves.
4.katniss is strong has personality and a good model. twilight's story is just about bella being flirty because of having 2 guys at a time.
5. the lesson. the moral in the hunger games are inspiring. as of in the twilight it just tells you not to have 2 guys at one time.

those are my top 5 reasons. :)

i dont hate twilight. i just LOVE HUNGER GAMES MORE. thats why im defending it. :)

HAPPY HUNGER GAMES AND MAY THE ODDS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR.

Nicely said anna 87!

Lol only 5? WHere do I start...

1) Hunger Games is written better than Twilight. It's more sophisticated and complex with lots of underlying themes and messages. What's Twilight's message? It's ok to be obsessed with a boy at 18- but then you must marry and have babies. It's also written like a 15 years olds fan fiction.

2) Katniss is a strong, independent and inspiring character. Bella is nothing special, even a whiner.

3) Peeta is a strong, capable and caring human being- he loves Katniss no matter what happens. Edward leaves Bella 'for her own good'.

4) The action is amazing! THe twists in the story are amazing. The little tidbits are amazing! i.e. How the mockinjay pin Madge gave Katniss was her aunties, who was Katniss' Mum's friend who died in a Hunger Games. Cool.
Twilight is about two ppl obsessed with each other. Nothing meaningful happens.

5) The characters in The Hunger Games are so human you can relate to them. And the world seems so real because deep down you know this stuff could happen. This book makes you think and feel outside your boundaries.
Twilight is 2 dimensional and doesn't challenge you in any way.
“You’re not leaving me here alone,” I say. Because if he dies, I’ll never go home, not really. I’ll spend the rest of my life in this arena, trying to think my way out.”
