In a recent interview with ABC News, Jeffrey Wright, who has been cast as Beetee in the Hunger Games sequel discuss his role in the movie.
“It’s really comforting,” Wright said about being a part of the cultural phenomenon. “When you make a movie, you hope that you will surpass peoples’ expectations.”
Wright plays Beetee in the second installment, “Catching Fire,” which is currently filming.
“[He] is one of the previous victors from the games,” Wright said. “He comes back in the 75th anniversary games, the Quarter Quell as it’s called and he participates again. But this time the games are used as a foil to advance other ideas.”
Catching Fire Casting Rumor: Sam Claflin To Play Finnick, Tony Shalhoub To Play Beetee
Variety is reporting that Sam Claflin is the frontrunner to play Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Meanwhile, Tony Shalhoub is the frontrunner to play the role of District 3 tribute Beetee. Melissa Leo had been shortlisted for the part of Mags but her reps were informed last Tuesday afternoon that she did not get the role.
Sam Claflin is best known for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Snow White and the Huntsman.
Tony Shalhoub is a three-time Emmy Awards winner. His movies include Spy Kids, Men in Black, Men in Black II, Big Night, The Siege, Cars, Cars 2, and The Man Who Wasn’t There.
