New Book Covers for Suzanne Collins’ The Underland Chronicles

EW has the exclusive first look to the new covers of Suzanne Collin’s The Underland Chronicles, the book series which she wrote before The Hunger Games. The new edition will be available this summer!

The five-book fantasy series follows Gregor, a boy who discovers an underground city that’s home to giant spiders, bats, rats, and cockroaches as he finds himself on a search for his missing father. Like The Hunger Games, Gregor’s adventures explore larger themes, like war, biological warfare, and even genocide.

Philip Seymour Hoffman Talks Hunger Games and His Role in Catching Fire

Philip Seymour Hoffman, who plays Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is featured on WSJ’s Speakeasy. He praised Suzanne Collins for writing the series, and he also talked about his role in the Hunger Games sequel.

Hoffman said since his role in the “Catching Fire” book isn’t very big — Plutarch Heavensbee takes over from Seneca Crane as Head Gamekeeper. But the film’s writers added more to his character. Then when he films “Mockingjay,” everything changes.

“I’m looking forward to the next two [films], because his job becomes very different,” Hoffman said of Plutarch’s role. “The story becomes very different and everyone will see what happens.”

Hunger Games Author Suzanne Collins to Write A New Book For Kids!

Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins is writing a new book for kids. She is teaming up with James Proimos, picture-book author-artist,  to create “Year of the Jungle,” an autobiographical picture book for ages 4 and up, based on the year Collins’ father — Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Collins, who served in Vietnam.

According to Scholastic, “Year of the Jungle” tells a story of when young Suzy’s father leaves for Vietnam, and she struggles to deal with his absence. She wonders about his safety and is anxious for his return. As time goes by, the postcards she receives from him seem more distant, and when he returns, Suzy must learn that even though war has changed him, he still loves her just the same.

The book is set to be published September 10!

Hunger Games Author Suzanne Collins Spotted in Atlanta?

According to Access Atlanta, Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins was spotted dining at Lure, a seafood restaurant in Atlanta, Georgia. Lure posted on their Facebook page on August 27th that the author dined at the restaurant Sunday night.

The filming of  The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is expected to begin this month in Atlanta!  :)
